“We want people to view us as credible. We want to look like we’re the leaders in our industry. In fact, we are the leaders. We’re the only firm in our region that has agents who’ve been accredited to do that level of financial work.” This was a comment from one of my clients in a meeting the other day. They went on to say, “We want our website and marketing to look like your other client in the medical industry. We want to have that level of credibility.”
That was an interesting observation to me. Our “other client’s” website is an excellent example of modern minimalism. The code is elegant with intuitive navigation. But my client wasn’t focusing on the code, they were really focusing on the presentation, the images, and the visual identity. Once I explained to them that often that the emotional response of credibility comes from the combination of colors, composition, and the quality of the images and in this case photography, they sat back and agreed. They began to see things differently and gave our agency “cart blanch” over their visual identity.
